Canadian Curling Tools crowns SmartBroom 3 with the Prestigious “Product of the Year” Award

Kitchener ON, March 3, 2025 — After a close race, with stiffer competition than ever, the SmartBroom 3, developed by Canadian Curling Tools has been crowned Product of the Year in the annual Innovation in Curling awards, presented by Canadian Curling Tools.

In a year that saw black foam, the new CurlBook app for iPad, and even more black foam released to the market, competition was fierce for the top title of Product of the Year. A unanimous vote by the Canadian Curling Tools judges panel gives the honour to the SmartBroom 3.

“Nobody could have predicted this outcome, it really looked like the votes could have gone in any of three or four different directions” said Will Hamilton, co-founder of Canadian Curling Tools, SmartBroom creator, and member of the judges panel.

“It was a tough decision for us this year. Innovation everywhere you look. How do you even decide who deserves to be Product of the Year? I needed to step back, be objective, and really ask myself if a SmartBroom is more innovative than everything else we’ve seen this year … yes it is” continued Hamilton, after literally taking off his hat and replacing it with another.

“When I decided to add blue dye to our broom’s foam, I had no idea I would be taking part in the fiercest foam-colour battle ever fought on the curling stage” exclaimed Andrew Flemming, co-founder of Canadian Curling Tools, SmartBroom creator, and member of the judges panel.

“SmartBrooms 1 and 2 were great and all, but to make it all the way to 3 is beyond impressive”

SmartBroom 3 is a new World Curling certified broom from Canadian Curling Tools that incorporates highly accurate force sensors to measure the performance of a sweeper in real time, while they practice or compete in games.

“What? Did we win something? I voted for what?” added a confused and sleep-deprived Geoffrey Fowler, co-founder of Canadian Curling Tools, SmartBroom creator, and member of the judges panel.
